The National Democratic Congress of the Tema West Constituency has embarked on an internal policy drive which is almost a novel and expected to change the face of the Ghanaian body politic. The project which was under the auspices of the Youth Wing of the constituency, was facilitated by Mr. Jones Klutse, the Constituency Youth Organizer, and was to train young people within the Tema West Constituency in artisanal skills and entrepreneurship. Mr. George Opare Addo, the National Youth Organizer who was the special guest of honour, encouraged young people especially school leavers and graduates to venture into the private enterprise. He bemoaned, it was crucial if the alarming unemployment rate among the youth should be reversed.
Mr. Opare sounded this alarm at the graduation ceremony of over 50 Youth in the Tema West Constituency who were taken through a fifteen days skills development and mentorship training programme with seasoned resource persons from industry and academia under the auspices Mr George Opare Addo, National Youth Organizer.
“To start your own business and be successful you need to be disciplined and have that strong determine mind and heart to win even in the midst of challenges” he added.
According to Mr. Dogbey, there are many business opportunities in Ghana and the youth must take interest in self-development and mentorship to take advantage of what the private enterprise present.
He encouraged the trainees to make good use of the mentorship acquired, build on them and become games changers in the Ghanaian business space in the not too distant future.

Also addressing the gathering was the NDC Chairman for the Tema West Constituency Robert Isaac Pobee in attendance with his deputy, Mr. Mohammed Issah , commended the Youth for the training. He said entrepreneurship is the best route and admonished them to be resilient, focused and be determined and they would surely succeed. He cautioned that failure may come but they don’t have to give up.

The Chairperson, Madam Patricia Addy the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Secretary also at her turn, charged the beneficiaries to spur on in their newly trained field and remain resolute in the face of challenges. She assured them that with determination and persistence they would not regret this chosen field.

Keynote speaker, Mr Anthony Dogbey an entrepreneur and a business developer who represented industry also added his voice to the need for young people to aim at owning their own businesses.He explained that the beginning of every business set up is difficult, the challenges are many and the individual must be ready to sacrifice.
